Identifying the need for building capacity and developing the skills of the youth in society as a tool for alleviating poverty and driving economic independence, Ohafia Students Worldwide, through this initiative has empowered and built capacity of youths with skills and knowledge that would take them to greater heights.
The “skill acquisition program” ably sponsored by Chief Barr. Dr. Okwun Ojah provided participants opportunities to be impacted with vocational skills including Decoration (Event Management), Computer (Information Technology), Music and Creative Writing and Presentation.
Dr. Okwun in a media chat with OHAFIA-TV News, disclosed that “Skill acquisition is prerequisite to attainment of human capacity development and self reliance”, correlating the awkward situation of the world economy.
Dr. Okwun also noted that he was delighted and confident that the training had provided a useful platform for the beneficiaries to gain “not just hands-on-skill but completely new insights that will strengthen their resolve to succeed in all areas of life while encouraging participants to take advantage of the program.
The training exposed participants to seasoned professionals who shared knowledge, experiences and skills in these specialized vocations. The training also provided youths with hands-on, one-on-one experiences on how to build their skills in the professions and how to develop self-sustaining businesses from these skills.
