The Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole was today, November 5, 2021, a guest of the Italian Embassy in Nigeria where he attended the 2021 Italian Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
It would be recalled that Hon. Nkole had within the week, received the Italian Defence Attaché in Nigeria, Col. Michel Dev Astato in his office at the National Assembly where they discussed issues of mutual interest to the 2 countries of Nigeria and Italy. Col. Dev Astato had equally used the opportunity of the visit to invite Hon. Nkole to today’s event.
Welcoming guests to the event, consisting of senior government officials, military leaders in Nigeria and members of the intelligence community, the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano Pontesili disclosed his desire to sustain the close relationship between Italy and Nigeria and urged the guests present to continue to do their best to uphold that relationship. He indicated that the guests were carefully selected to indicate their importance in the international intelligence community and thanked them for honouring the invitation.
Hon. Nkole, a United States International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumnus, is a highly sought after analyst by the international community in Nigeria and regularly plays host to ambassadors and senior officials of different embassies in Nigeria where they analyse unfolding global trends and the place of Nigeria in the emerging world.
Hon. Nkole in his remarks thanked the embassy for their willingness and interest in partnering with his constituents and other Nigerians in general that are willing to be trained as pilots and other technicians in the area of aeronautics and assured them of his availability to assist the embassy to achieve their objectives.
Hon. Nkole is a ranking Member of the House of Representatives Committee on Defense at the National Assembly.
