The National Rescue Movement (NRM), a credible political party poised to change the narrative of Nigeria’s political landscape has shifted its primary election.
Recall, the party had written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 21st April, 2022, informing the electoral umpire of its primary elections dates.
However, the party in a letter to INEC, dated 19th May, 2022, and signed by the National Chairman, Hon. (Amb) Isaac Chigozie Udeh and Danbuba Mohammed, the National Secretary, said the change is as a result of unforseen circumstances.
According to the party, Primaries for state Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate will hold on May 27th, 2022, while date for the gubernatorial primary election remains May, 31st, 2022 across the states of the federation.
The party’s presidential primaries will hold between June 1st and June 2nd, 2022 where the Party’s presidential flag bearer will emerge.
Meanwhile, a front runner and Governorship hopeful of the party in Abia state, Dr. Kalu Ijioma, has been tipped to change the narrative of the state, if elected governor. This position was made known by Abia Renaissance, a political pressure group that advocates good governance.
According to the leader of the group, Ifechi Okezie, Dr. Ijioma is a technocrat with outstanding track record and his developmental strides is what Abia needs to recover from the existing backwardness, infrastructural decay, institutional dereliction and end the overburdened debt due to excessive borrowing by previous and the incumbent administration.
They called on the party delegates to vote massively for Dr. Ijioma who they described as the best among other governorship candidates in race across political parties in the state.
