2023: only return to federal character can save Nigeria – Kalu

Dr Emeka Kalu

Many concerned citizens of Nigeria have continued to make case for the need to ensure cohesion, peace and a guaranteed future by understanding that except we truly acknowledge the multi-faceted nature of Nigeria and give it the right attention, we are on the brink of disintegration.

The National Coordinator, PDP Coalition and founder of Global Initiative for Good Governance, GIGG, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, has called on Nigerian leaders to shun greed and parochialism for the greater good of the entire nation. He advised many of the insatiable politicians to stay away from the 2023 race to create political sanity and cohesion in the country.

“Nigeria currently operates on 6 Geophysical zones, and this must be respected for a stronger and a United Nigeria. I always argued that the North-West, South-West, and South-South has produced individuals and wonderful leaders like Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Mallam El-Rufai, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, Chibuike Amaechi, Godswill Akpabio, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, etc., and therefore should keep away from this race in order to give an atmosphere of peaceful cohesion.

“If the North-West, South-West, South-South have produced leaders that took shots at this lofty offices, it is sacrosanct that in the spirit of equity, the remaining three regions of South-East, North-East and North-Central be given a shot to help stabilize the already tensed Nigeria polity.

“We have experienced situations where the principle of federal character is eroded with impunity, which has put Nigeria in a precarious state. It is our duty as leaders to work hard to make amends, give everyone a true sense of belonging that will restore confidence in the Nigerian project.” He cautioned.

He, therefore, advised the two major parties of APC, PDP and others, to help save Nigeria from collapse by producing candidates from the Geological zones that are yet to take a short at the presidency come 2023. Insisting that any man or woman jettisoning this arrangement or talking about qualifications to give credence to the erroneous notion that power should remain in the 3 zones that have taken a short are enemies of Nigeria.

“This is time to tell ourselves the truth to solve our problems. And we must tell ourselves that truth by ourselves.
