Abia Online Media Publishers (AOMPO) Unveils Constitution, Set Up Disciplinary Body

UMUAHA – As part of measures to sanitize the online media practices, which has become one of the most thriving means of dissemination of information across board in recent times, members of Abia Online Media Publishers Organization (AOMPO), have today unveiled their constitution to guide and protect the activities of her members and ensure only best know practices are adhered to.

This was revealed after a General Meeting of the association, held in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital on Friday 13th September, 2019, where among other things, the issue of professionalism premised on best known journalistic ethics in discharge of their civic duties was emphasized.

Speaking during the unveiling of the Constitution, the chairman of the Organization, Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo stated that “No organization thrives without a constitution”. Pointing out that this effort is aimed at following due process of every journalistic rules while placing the organization on a strong footing.

To demonstrate the readiness of the The organization in fostering best practices as well as checkmating the activities of her members, a Disciplinary Committee was set up hence, to look into complaints and adjudicate in matters as may be brought before her by the organization, especially in matter relating to members’ relationship with the public and among colleagues.

The Members of the disciplinary committee include: Comr. Sunday Nwankwo (Chairman), Comr. Chinwe Ugele (Secretary), Comr. Emenike Iroegbu, Comr. Clinton Ubah and Comr. Cashmir Nwakanma.

The Chairman used the opportunity to solicit cooperation and mutual understanding between her members and the General public, pointing out that such priceless cooperation will help to support the growing democratic tenets of Abia State and Nigeria at large.
