Following the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Saturday Polls in Edo State where his mandate was reaffirmed to lead Edo State for another 4 fruitful years, encomium has continued to pour in from home and abroad, including UK and USA, as well as other reputable Nigeria leaders of thought and defenders of democracy of our time. The Abia State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr Chinedum Orji, has joined excited leaders of a free nation to welcome the development.
Observing, the speaker pointed out that Edo State remains the bastion of development in the history of Africa where it has a place in history as cradlle of civilization and therefore having recorded the freest and fairest election in the history of Nigeria in recent times, has added another feather to her crown of Glory.
Engr Chinedum expressed confidence that what transpired in Edo State has restored the unnegotiable confidence and reality that no matter the effort of man to control the destiny of others, God remains the ultimate decider of who hold power because the voice of the people is the voice of God.
Speaking, “I congratulate the Edo State Governor, HE Governor Godwin Obaseki for winning the confidence of his people to steer the affairs of the state for another 4 fruitful years. This goes a long way to affirm that it is right to work for the people as a leader so that when the time of persecution comes, your good works will speak for you. I congratulate him also for standing strong to fight for Edolites and ensured that their wills were not stampeded or jettisoned to serve the desires of Godfathers at the expense of the Edo citizens. I say kudos.
“Let me also praise INEC for living up to expectations as a fair umpire who has restored the confidence of the people that, with determination and patriotic actions of all, Nigeria can still attain the perfect system that will be the dream and envy of all”, he said.
The speaker also praised the Commander in Chief, President Mohammadu Buhari for deploying every state apparatus that perfectly ensure maintenance of peace and order which culminated in the fairest election in recent times. He said it is a show of goodwill and prove that Buhari is a defender of democracy.
“I must not fail to praise the President of the Federation for restoring hope in Nigeria through free and fair election. I also commend the APC family, especially Mr Ize-Iyamu and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for putting in legitimate fight and accepting the outcome in good faith, this is another show of sportsmanship that should be emulated by all politicians who think good for Nigeria” he said.
The Abia State Speaker also encouraged PDP to capitalize on this good fortune to position herself for better outing even as 2023 is fast approaching as it lies only in the hands of Nigerians to make Nigeria work again.
