The Special Assistant to the Enugu State Governor on Youth Affairs, Comrade Johnpaul Anih has offered scholarships to over 40 indigent students from his community, Akpugo in the Nkanu West Local government area for the period of the three-term academic session.
The beneficiaries of the education support scheme were drawn from three secondary schools which include; Government Secondary School Agbani, Technical College Obinagu-Uwani Akpugo, and Akpugo High School Akpugo.
The initiator of the programme, tagged “JOHNPAUL EDUCATION SUPPORT SCHEME”, Johnpaul Anih, also made a cash donation, as well as presentation of bags of rice, assured the community that the scheme would be sustained so as to afford the struggling people in the society the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
He said the programme is part of his contribution to support and consolidate the policies and programmes of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom he said has touched the lives of the people.
OHAFIA-TV News gathered that Comrade Johnpaul Anih had earlier visited an abandoned borehole in the community, promised that the Ugwuanyi administration has the interest of the people at heart and would do everything possible to assuage their plights.
Governor Ugwuanyi who was represented at the occasion by his Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Manfred Nzekwe thanked the Akpugo people for their continued support for his administration.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler, Ndiagu-Uwani Akpugo, His Royal Highness Igwe Innocent Ogbodo commended the philanthropic gesture demonstrated by their illustrious son and charged other well-meaning individuals in the community to emulate him so as to improve the general wellbeing of people in the community.
