Celebrating my boss and political mentor…Hon. Uko Nkole, member, representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency @…..42

Preamble: Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen

I am enthused and excited, but in all humility to celebrate an outstanding successful politician, who began humble, rose with a remarkable speed of light to the limelight of eminence and excellence, an entreprising political icon, who was born to achieve greatness, a man who really found favour with God, that God decided to bring him to the forecourt of eminence, via politics, even when he least envisaged he was going to be a partisan politician, and ever since God took that favoured decision on him, to make him a great politician, it has been absolutely difficult for the searchlight on him to grow dim.

There, there, is Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole, the political paragon of excelence, a stellar of immense propensity, a bridge builder, a legend, an enigmatic son of Abam Onyerubi, an achiever, an aggressive warrior against underdevelopment, a man of frugal words whose evocative grandeur of phrase, persuasive rhectoric, scintillating cadence, embellished and carefully crafted logical diction will make you agree with me that there is power in words.

His Cradle:

Uko Nkole was born in Abam Onyerubi in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, on 20th October, 1975.

Educational Career:

The young Uko attended Ovukwu Secondary School where he sat for and passed Senior School Certificate Examination in 1993. He secured admission to the Most-Sought-After University, the foremost University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree (B. Sc.) in Marketing.

He also did his Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) at the Nigerian Institute of Town Planning and a registered Town Planner.

After his University education, Uko Nkole did his mandatory youth service program with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Minna, Niger State.

Work Experience:

Nkole worked with federal capital territory administration as a town planner in development control. He was a member of the Adhoc committee on restoration of Abuja master plan and was also a past secretary of Presidential Committee on International Affairs, He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planner.

Hon. Uko: The Master Planner and Politician Par Excellence:

Hon. Uko Nkole delved into politics with altruism. He was elected the member representing Arocukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State in 2015, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

At the house, at present, Hon. Nkole is a member of a number of House Committees. These committees include: Appropriation, Federal Capital Territory, Public Accounts, Public Service Matters, Urban and Regional Planning, Navy, Drugs and Narcotics, Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Government Affairs.

Of course, Hon. Uko has interest to legislate for city planning, urban development, equity and justice, environmental protection, planning and management.

He has sponsored and co-sponsored many motion, among them includes, the motion on the need to resuscitate the 132/33 KVA Arochukwu Electricity substation, the motion on the need for the executive arm to look into the overpopulation and dilapidated structures of NYSC orientation camps in the federation, raised a motion on the perennial issue of flooding in Niger State and parts of Lagos state, a motion on the need for the continuation of voters registration in wards and registration units nationwide etc.

In his administrative style of closing communication gap between him and his electorate of his constituency, he established a constituency office in Ebem Ohafia which is furnished and in use with a Liaison Officer, Secretary and a cleaner though he made himself closer and accessible to his people.

In his philosophy of service and driven by the development mindset, Hon. Uko Nkole has provided human empowerment through capacity building, employment; through him, many has been appointed Aides to the Governor, workers in the Federal Civil Service, MDAs and Parastatals etc., infrastructural development, provision of basic amenities, scholarship and bursaries to indigent pupils and students in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

It is in due consideration of his colossal antecedents, the sterling qualities of this true indefatigable and indomitable patriot, political prodidy, crusader, fearless and visionary leader, mobiliser of men and resources, community leader, a happy family man and father, Administrator, orator, peacemaker, pathfinder, vigorous combatter against injustice, thinker, writer, public servant, clairvoyant that his people named him, “The Peoples General” which has earned him many awards and chieftaincy titles.

Also, considering Hon. Uko Nkole’s unassuming demeanour, his disarming low profile and publicity shyness, the acknowlegement of his tremendous achievements by his people and stakeholders even when he is neither noisy nor given to self-adulation, has further lent credence to the axiom that a gold fish has no hiding place.

My boss, my father, my mentor, my motivator, my pathfinder, the man who God has used to show me the way to greatness, you picked me up and treated me like your own son, you saw the he in me and you decided to put me to where I belong; and here I am…

As you celebrate your birthday today, I reaffirm my promise to remain humble, loyal and dedicated to my assigned duties and responsiblities.

May God continue to show His light on you and move you to a greater height where you will continue to touch lives positively as you have already written your name in gold and on the footprint of sand of time.

Happy birthday…wishing you long life, prosperity, good health and fulfilment of your dreams and aspirations.
