The Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu today delivered some relief materials to be shared to the people of Ohafia South State Constituency as part of his own contribution towards alleviating the sufferings of his people.
This followed the directive of the Abia State Government instructing her citizens to stay at home as a measure to prevent the spread of the deadly Corona Virus in the state.
The items delivered by the Deputy Speaker includes; Bags of Rice, Tubers of Yam, Cartons of Indomie, Cartons of Milk, Groundnut Oil, Salt, Hand sanitizers and buckets for regular hand washing. This is in addition to the monthly data subscription for 100 persons from Ohafia South as a way of assisting them get regular updates from the internet as regards to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Handing over the materials to the Chairman of the Ohafia Covid 19 Committee, Prince Fred Eke Idika who also doubles as the TC Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu assured that improving the lives of his people remains his top most priority, stating that he will continue to step in time to time to help cushion the negative effects of the covid 19 preventive measure of sitting at home on his people.
He enjoined his constituents and Abians in General to obey the government’s directive and and ensure regular hand washing to help prevent the virus from finding it’s way to Ohafia and the state at large.
The Deputy Speaker also called on other well meaning Ohafians to reach out the to those who may be finding it difficult to feed during the period of the lock down.
Responding, the TC Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Chief Fred Idika, the Vice President of Ohafia Improvement Union, Elder U. K. Uga, Ohafia Youths President, Mr. Obasi Kalu all thanked the Deputy Speaker for his kind gesture while assuring that they will ensure the equitable distribution of the relief materials.
Those present during the handover of the materials includes; Chief Fred Eke Idika – Chairman of Ohafia LGA/Chairman of the Covid 19 Committee, Ohafia, Elder U. K. Uga – Vice President of Ohafia Improvement Union, Dr. Ojo Uma Ojo – Assistant Secretary General, OIU, Elder Emmanuel Kalu – Ezeogo of Asaga Community, Mr. Obasi Kalu – President of Ohafia Youths, Chief Kalu Agwu – Chief of Staff to the TC Chairman, Comr. Udo Anaga Ibeh – Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker, Comr. Anya Okorie – Youth President, Asaga, Comr. Emeka Mannic – Assistant Publicity Secretary, Ohafia Covid 19 Committee and Mr. Akanu Okey – President, Isiugwu Youths Association.
