Gunmen kidnap father of former Imo deputy governor


His Royal Highness, Eze Madumere, father of a former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

The monarch was said to have been kidnapped at Iho Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.

A resident of the locality said the 89-year-old traditional ruler of Ezi–Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area was reportedly ambushed on Friday by gunmen after sporadic shootings on his way to a funeral.

The kidnappers were said to have dragged the traditional ruler out of his vehicle and driven to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, Prince Eze Madumere, the former Deputy Governor of the state, disclosed that his father’s abductors have contacted the family.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Michael Abattam, when contacted also confirmed the incident and stressed that they have put machinery in place to arrest the culprits.
