Oluchi Obasi is a Nigerian born singer from Ohafia, Abia state. She is a lover of good music no matter the genre or country of origin as long as it sounds good! Her love for music led her to study music at Lagos State University. She loves to read, travel, enjoy good food and engage in fun, creative and intellectual activities.

Early Life and Career

Oluchi Obasi was born on the 5th of January 1992 to Engr & Eld (Mrs) Ikenga Obasi in Lagos State. She attended Federal Govt. Girls’ College Bwari, Abuja and proceeded to Lagos State University for her higher education. While in secondary school, she was very active in the choir and was also a part of more than one singing group. Her university days were characterised by several performances including performing for important functions which had the vice chancellor and other notable individuals in attendance among others. Oluchi has six siblings, five girls and a brother.


From being in choir for most of her teenage years, Oluchi began her journey into the music industry by contesting in Nigerian Idol Seson 5 and making it to the Top 30 round. She wasn’t discouraged by the outcome and went on to contest in the just concluded Project Fame West Africa Season 9 and was among the top 10 finalists.

During her time on the show, judge and ace producer Tee Y-Mix had this to say about her, ‘Your voice is phenomenal… and you have a lot of potential to be a super super mega star!’ Since leaving the show, she has focused on honing her talent and believes the world is hers to conquer. To set things in motion, she has released her first single titled Chi Ihunaya which was produced by Pheelz.  This song according to her is just the first of many great songs to come from her.
