Terrorism: Unknown gunmen invade Ebonyi community, kill one, abduct many

Unknown gunmen on Monday reportedly invaded Nduegu Achi community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and killed one person. It was gathered that the attackers equally set ablaze several houses and abducted others to an unknown destination. The people of the area fled the community for fear of being killed by the gunmen. An eyewitness, who spoke to journalists in Abakaliki, said that the gunmen invaded the community and started shooting sporadically and in the process killed one person and abducted many others. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, struck out the motion filed by sacked Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi, seeking a stay of execution of the March 8 judgment. Justice Inyang Ekwo struck out the motion after Chukwuma Ma-Chukwu Ume, SAN, counsel for Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, prayed the court for the withdrawal of the motion, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, did not oppose the application. An Ebonyi State High Court, sitting in Abakaliki, on Thursday, ordered Governor David Umahi and his Deputy, Eric Kelechi Igwe to remain in office.
