Former Asante Kotoko chairman, Herbert Mensah, has backed the Black Stars of Ghana to beat Nigeria and qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year. Nigeria and Ghana will face each other in the final World Cup qualifying round in March, with the winner progressing to the 2022 FIFA World Cup slated for November this year. The West African giants were eliminated from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon. Accra Circuit Court 4 has adjourned musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal’s case to January 25, 2022. The three accomplices of the self-acclaimed dancehall king were also included. The prosecutor asked the court to chase one additional person who is yet to be arrested by the police. Lawyers for the accused persons also prayed to the court that it’s the festive season and that his clients should be given some time so that the accused can spend time with their families. The digital currency or e-cedi which is to be piloted from this month can be deposited on smart devices such as smartphones and smartwatches as savings, Head of Financial Technology and Innovation at the Bank of Ghana, Kwame Oppong, has disclosed. Those without smartphones can also make payment or transfer or store/save the e-Cedi on phones which are not ‘smart’ in nature, using the USSD code. Ghanaian fisherman sentenced for snatching ballot box

A 39-year-old fisherman has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for interfering in the just-ended elections at the Sene West constituency in the Bono East region. Christain Nukpeta who a resident of Tato Bator is reported to have snatched a Parliamentary ballot box at one of the polling stations in the area when the counting process was ongoing.
