When a leader like Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) is mishandled by ill minded Nigerian leaders who find holes in his good deeds to make Nigeria work, it becomes a discouragement to younger Nigerians to sticking out their necks for Nigeria to thrive. Why did I say this? I said this to say that while good people are accused, taken through psychological, horrendous and torturous trials, the real victims, and plotters of Abia state and Nigeria’s downfall go Scot free or get reprieve.
No children will find it pleasing that an uncle who granted them free education, offered free medical services to their parents while ensuring that they were paid their salaries duly for them to have food on their tables is being accused of doing less at ensuring that their roofs never leaked. They won’t be happy to see that another uncle of theirs is really the one behind the travails of their beneficiary uncle.
Orji Uzor Kalu stuck out his neck to work Nigeria, Abia state particularly that he attracted accolades across the country. The trending one has been that of the then President in the times of his governing Abia State, Olusegun Obasanjo when he christened him the Action Governor. Yes, that was not an easy one but OUK attracted accolades from Nigeria’s first executive president among other well meaning Nigerians including women and youths in remote villages of Abia state, Nigeria at large. Even as he seemingly fell off paths with Obasanjo, he still knows the person OUK is made of hence his telling T. A. Orji in the face that if he can betray OUK, he (T. A. Orji) can also Betray God.
The war waged against OUK by T. A. Orji is really undeserving. Lessons from such ingratitude can only dissuade kindness from the minds of peoples of the world. Good lessons should be set to expose younger Nigerians to drives that will boost them towards being patriotic and brothers’ keepers. It’s unfortunate that Nigeria dreams to be great but her tomorrow leaders are corrupted by the examples laid down by few of their fathers who know nothing but pulling down one another for selfish and not national gains.
We must keep standing in solidarity with our loving father, uncle and brother, His Excellency Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu. It can only take time but only being resolute can keep our hopes alive.
